The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and VFW Auxiliary are proud champions of the next generation! About the Program: Without our nation’s veterans, America wouldn’t be the great nation it is today. Through the Smart/Maher VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher Award program, the VFW recognizes educators who teach America’s history, traditions, and the role of veterans in creating and shaping America.

How to Participate: Nominate an outstanding teacher by submitting the 2026 entry form through a participating local VFW Post.
